Sprint Race Format
Understanding the F1 Sprint format at the 2025 Miami Grand Prix

How the Sprint Format Works
Friday: First Practice & Sprint Qualifying
Teams have one 60-minute practice session to set up their cars. Later, Sprint Qualifying determines the grid for Saturday's Sprint Race using the standard Q1, Q2, Q3 format but with shorter sessions.
Saturday: Sprint Race & Grand Prix Qualifying
The Sprint is a shortened race (approximately 100km/19 laps at Miami) with points awarded to the top 8 finishers (8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1). Later, standard three-part qualifying sets the grid for Sunday's Grand Prix.
Sunday: Full Grand Prix
The main Grand Prix takes place as normal (57 laps at Miami), with the grid determined by Saturday's qualifying session, not the Sprint results.
Note: The Sprint format creates more competitive action across the weekend with meaningful sessions on all three days.

Spectator Tips
Make the most of your race weekend experience
Arrive Early
Plan to arrive at least 2 hours before the sessions you want to see. Entry gates get congested closer to key events, especially for Sunday's race.
Weather Preparation
Miami can be hot and sunny in May. Bring sunscreen, a hat, and stay hydrated. Also consider bringing a poncho as brief afternoon showers are possible.
Track Radio
Bring a small FM radio or download the F1 app to listen to live commentary. This will help you follow the action, especially during qualifying and the race.
What to Bring
Check the official allowed items list before attending. Generally, small bags, cameras (no professional lenses), and sealed water bottles are permitted.
